If you’ve ever priced a job off the top of your head, sent a quote you weren’t 100% confident in, then spent the whole job hoping the margin holds… you’re not alone.
Quoting is one of those parts of running a trade business that should be simple, but somehow turns into a mess of notes, half-finished templates, and “I’ll tidy it up later”.
So we built something to make it easier.
Our new free Job Pricing Calculator + Quote Builder helps you price jobs properly, fast, using trade-friendly templates. You can allow for wastage, add margin, and generate a clean PDF quote with your logo in a couple of clicks.
No mucking around.
What it is
It’s a free online tool that lets you:
- choose a template based on your trade (builder, roofer, landscaper, carpenter and more)
- enter the job details
- add line items for labour, materials, subbies, allowances, whatever you need
- factor in wastage
- set your margin
- generate a professional PDF quote with your business details and logo
Then, when you’re done:
- export to CSV so you can save it and reuse it next time
- export to CSV for NextMinute so you can import it, turn it into a job, and start running the work
What’s included in the calculator
We built it to match how real jobs are priced, not how spreadsheets wish the world worked.
Trade templates that give you a head start
Pick your trade and start with a structure that makes sense for your work. Builders, roofers, landscapers, carpenters… you get the idea.
You can use the template as-is, or tweak it to suit the way you quote.
Wastage and margin, baked in
Wastage is real. So are the little extras that chew up profit.
The calculator makes it easy to:
- add wastage where it matters
- apply margin consistently
avoid “at cost” quoting that leaves you busy but broke
A quote you can actually send to a client
The output is a clean PDF quote with:
- your business details
- your logo
a professional layout
It looks the part, which helps with trust and conversion. Especially when you’re quoting against someone who’s slapped numbers into a text message.
Save it for next time (CSV export)
If you’ve got common job types you quote over and over, the CSV export is a big win.
Price it once, save it, and the next time a similar job comes up you’re not starting from scratch.
Want to run the job properly after it’s accepted?
Once the customer says “yep, let’s do it”, quoting is only half the battle.
If you want to turn that quote into a live job and keep control of time, costs, and profitability, you can export your quote and import it into NextMinute.
From there you can:
- schedule the crew
- track time and costs as the job runs
- keep photos and notes against the job
- invoice without missing line items
- see where profit is tracking, before the job’s finished
