A free online roofing quote template for Kiwi roofing crews. Price each stage line by line, with waste and margin on every item, set GST to 15% and it totals the lot. Print a branded PDF, export to CSV or send it into NextMinute. Nothing's stored online.
Free. Just pop in your details to get started.

Enter the job once and the totals look after themselves. Same structure every time, so the extra box of fixings is always in.
Your logo and business name, the client, the site, quote date, valid-until date and payment terms.
Start from the roofing template and rename the stages to suit: strip-out, roof, flashings, spouting. Add a line for every sheet, fixing, crew hour and skip.
Units, rate and charge type on each line, with its own waste % and margin %. Sheets and flashing carry offcut waste. Scaffold hire doesn't.
Subtotal, GST and total, ready to print as a PDF with your logo, export to CSV or send to NextMinute.
New roofs, re-roofs, spouting and repairs. Built for Kiwi roofing businesses running a crew across several jobs at once.

Nothing left off the quote
Flashing, fixings, underlay, access and disposal each get their own line. Nothing hides in the roofing iron price.
Margin on every line
Sheet metal and scaffold hire don't need the same markup. Set waste % and margin % per item.
A quote that looks the part
A clean PDF with your logo and terms, sent off the back of the ute.
How To Price It
Roofing quotes go sideways on the details. Price every job in the same buckets, add access and allowances, then GST.
Labour + Materials + Access and safety + Disposal + Margin and wastage + GST = Quote total
Measure up and price the labour. Area, pitch, valleys, hips and penetrations all change your labour and waste. Cost strip-out, install, flashings and clean-up at your charge-out rate.
List the materials. Roofing iron or tiles, battens, underlay, flashing, fixings, spouting and downpipes, with a waste % on anything you cut.
Add access, safety and disposal. Scaffold or edge protection, height safety gear, skips and dump fees for the old roof, then margin on every line.
Check these are in. They're the lines most often left off a roof.
These are the ones that bite on a roof.
Valleys, hips and penetrations always eat more than the plans suggest.
Scaffold and edge protection hire running longer than planned.
The old roof has to go somewhere, and the tip isn't free.
You won't see them till the old roof's off. Put an allowance in.
Once the quote's accepted, send it into NextMinute and it becomes a live job. Schedule the crew around the weather, keep photos and notes on the job, track time and costs as they happen, and invoice from the same place.

We’ve answered the ones we hear most from Kiwi roofers.
A roofing quote in NZ should include labour for strip-out, install and clean-up, roofing iron or tiles with wastage, flashing, fixings, underlay, spouting, scaffold or edge protection, dump fees for the old roof, margin and GST at 15%. Add an allowance for rotten battens and spell out exclusions. NextMinute's roofing software keeps that structure on every job.
The quote builder's GST rate is editable, so change it from the 10% default to 15% in the quote details before you add your lines. The summary then shows subtotal, GST at 15% and total. In NextMinute, NZ GST is set up already, so quotes and invoices use 15% with no changes.
Some NZ re-roofs need building consent and some don't. Replacing a roof with comparable materials is often exempt, but changing the roofing type, structure or weight can need consent. Check with your local council before you quote, and add consent fees and time as their own lines if they apply. Keep council documents against the job in NextMinute.
Wind zone and coastal exposure change what you need to price. Higher wind zones can need more fixings and different fixing patterns, and sites near the sea may need a more corrosion-resistant material grade and fixings. Check the site's wind zone and exposure before you quote, then price the right materials and extra fixing time as separate lines in the quote builder.
Price travel to rural roofing jobs as its own line. Add crew travel time, vehicle costs, delivery charges for materials and scaffold, and accommodation if the crew stays away. For diesel utes, allow for Road User Charges on top of fuel. The fuel cost calculator works out the fuel cost before you add it to the quote.
Allow wastage on anything you cut, like roofing iron, tiles and flashing. Hips, valleys and complex roof shapes create more offcuts than a simple gable. The quote builder defaults to 10% waste per line, and you can change it on each line. Compare actual material use against the quote with NextMinute back-costing to tune your figures.
Yes, NextMinute connects to Xero, so invoices raised against a roofing job flow into your accounts without double entry. The free quote builder doesn't connect to Xero itself, but once you export a quote into NextMinute the job and its invoices sync. See the NextMinute Xero integration.
Yes, upload your logo in the quote details and it prints on the PDF with your business name, client details, quote date, valid-until date and payment terms. A branded quote sent straight after the roof inspection stands out against a handwritten one. In NextMinute, every quote carries your branding automatically.
No, the free quote builder doesn't store anything online. Export your quote as a CSV before closing the page, then import it later to edit or reuse it. To keep every quote saved against the client and job, start a free NextMinute trial and export the quote straight in.
Exporting a roofing quote to NextMinute turns it into a live job with the same stages and line items. You can then schedule the crew around the weather, keep photos and notes against the job, record timesheets and compare actual costs to the quote while the work is still underway.
